Santa Barbara Style Inspiration

We are so excited for our new collaboration with Lamps Plus. W&R will be designing and curating a chic collection of luxe lamp shades that will add an element of glamour and sophistication to any living space. As with all our projects we love to explore and find inspiration from our surroundings. Living in Southern California feeds us with a plethora of landscapes and architecture which ignites our imaginations and makes for an interesting mix of design elements. On Friday the W&R team took a day trip to Santa Barbara, a city famed for its stunning Architecture and high style design. Visiting many of the local sites we discovered gorgeous Spanish revival design features. We were enthralled by the Courthouse, constructed in 1929, which puts any other to shame, a building we wouldn't mind calling home . The detailing , grand proportions and stylized architectural features made for an interesting set of ideas for our project. John Smeraldi painted ceilings of the Mural Room, the two original courtrooms and many other ceilings in the courthouse. His specialization in Italian Renaissance revival is timeless and illustrates how chic traditional painting techniques can be.
